HMRC - and registration for ASA Query

Hi - does anyone know what the telephone number is to contact HMRC regarding registration for an ASA.  I sent off the items by post last month and I am still waiting to hear from them.  Until I hear back from them I cannot even get an ASA.  I know it said it would take approx 28 days to get back, but I am beginning to wonder if they have received my info.

As had to be done by post, just wondering if anyone knows what the best telephone number is to contact them

Thanks

Hello,

I am in the same boat. I sent my letter using track & trace. It was delivered to them on May 2nd. I feel completely lost at sea at the moment and will possibly lose some clients if I don't hear back soon. 😞

Sorry to jump on your post - but can I ask what supporting documents you sent with your application?

Hi, I finally got my letter - was dated 30 May.  So it had my confirmation of agent registration on it and my self assessment agent code.   Spent some time on HMRC trying to figure out what I was meant to do, as seemed as though some of it had been done, but managed to sign up for ASA account, and then after that and with reading the back of the letter managed to get agent ID and reference numbers for the PAYE and VAT (I'm not VAT registered) and now I am waiting for activation codes - seemed the SA Agent Code was the part that came by post, but need to sign up for that to get an activation code.  I think when I receive them I shall finally have all I need.    I just printed off all the numbers and noted on them what was what as they also need to add the agent reference to the govt gateway account which can take a while.

It is all a bit mind boggling.  I only have a couple of clients at the moment re VAT.  Luckily the accountants are prepared to file the returns for me if I don't get sorted.  I sent my docs off at the end of April, so hopefully Heather you will get yours back soon.

 Hi Carly

So the supporting docs I sent were a copy of my licence for my practice, told them which taxes I wanted to deal with and also sent documentray evidence of AML Supervisory Authority.  Amy from ICB was really great as she sent an email confirmation from ICB re the supervision.

I put in the letter to them the info that they seemed to want as per their website and made sure I also mentioned my licence number.  I think it would be helpful if HMRC actually had a form you filled in rather than you having to send a letter

 Thanks Julie, thats really helpful.

I might give Amy a call tomorrow as I am only just applying for my practice licence. So maybe I will have to wait for that to go through before I can deal with anything with HMRC. Seems it doesnt pay to try and be organised!!

I applied for my practice licence a while back, but I was working full-time so have only now started sorting out my practice re paperwork, HMRC etc as I was made redundant.  It all seems to take a while, getting all the info etc together and checking everything.  I didn't realise it would take a while re the registration for an ASA account with HMRC, but it is probably to do with the checks they have to do.

That is fantastic News - Congratulations!!

As it has been over 7 weeks since I sent my registration letter (By recorded delivery) I can only assume that it has been lost in translation. Have spent multiple 45 minute periods on phone to HMRC pressing numbers and holding. I think the best thing for me to do is print and re-send? Hoping for the best - wish me luck!

I hope your Activation codes have arrived, and you're now free to provide full services for your clients 😊
