Hi All, I just wanted your opinions on this matter of how to fill out the first self assessment tax return for one of my clients:
This client has four income sources, one of which is definitely self employment (no issues surrounding this), the other three were (I believe) temporary jobs/casual work. My client is very young (and probably a little naive) so she hasn't issued any invoices for this income and has never received any payslips from these three companies for the income received and I'd taken all of the figures from her bank statements.
I have spoken to the ICB Technical Team about how to declare this income on the tax return and they've suggested declaring the income from the three temporary jobs as a second self-employment but they didn't seem too sure - my questions are:
1. Would you handle this in the same way the Technical team has suggested? Or should I include this as "other income" under the one self-employment section?
2. What do I then put as the business description if I were to declare the income as a second self employment?? Do I write that it was temporary jobs/casual work? The three jobs were: Dog grooming, bar staff and a football club (which again I think was bar staff but need to confirm).
Many thanks.
Minnie
