ICB brand undermined and overlooked for AAT at work

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone else had been spoken down to and had their qualification ignored. And best way to deal with them.

I have been working in the industry for over 25 years and ran an ICB practice for 13 years. In 2023, I decided I wanted colleagues again and due to clients not paying on time. I joined an accountancy practice.

They however have never heard of ICB and don't seem to want to find out. It is all about ACA and AAT.

I am in charge of the bookkeeping and VAT but it's not taxing. We're also made to feel like we're the lowest of the low and not a valuable member of the team. Also when it comes to payrises, it's not great and the answer is you're not qualified.

I am constantly overlooked for anyone with any AAT qualification. The youngsters are coming in and have no experience but it doesn't seem to matter.

I want to stand up for the ICB brand as I'm proud of it.

Please be honest, am I overthinking?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Dear Jane,

You are not overthinking.

I am honest and a proud member too.

ICB is representing in all events throughout the year and it is recognised.

It is accountancy practice's fault not our fault.

We have examples of big and multi award winner ICB practices.

Please do not overthink if you are.
