Information
In August, Wages Wednesday allowed us to have a look at the five Bills from the King’s Speech that will impact members and their clients. There are also some things we are still waiting for, applying from April 2025.
Ian also highlighted a consultation in Northern Ireland that, sometimes, mirrored the employment law reforms planned in Great Britain. Employment law is hugely important to payroll professionals. It gives us things like the statutory right to take maternity and paternity leave. So, we need to look at employment law carefully, especially so when the statutory right to leave involves a payment (e.g. Statutory Maternity Pay and Paternity Pay). The issue is that employment law is devolved to Northern Ireland so it is unhelpful for a UK-wide profession to have different payments derived from different employment law.
In September, as well as news and updates you need to be aware of, Ian would like to ‘drill down’ on two of the Bills and the one in Northern Ireland, contrasting the position we look set to encounter. Increasingly, we are having to face the situation that the same leave and pay entitlements do not apply the same UK-wide.
Join Ian at 2pm on 04 September 2024 for a round-up of information you need to know to keep you relevant and up-to-date, both now and in the future.
