Vistaprint Business Cards

Hello,

I've just got my Practice Licence and am in the process of setting myself up.

I'm trying to do a business card on the Vistaprint site and wanted to check I'm doing it right - I haven't got a logo, so on the card at the bottom where it says logo I've put the ICB crest with my practice licence no underneath. Is that right? The crest comes out quite big so I wondered if that was ok?

Also, if you order the cards and stationery on Vistaprint do you still need to get it approved by the ICB?

Many thanks,

Tina

Hi Tina

Its been a while since I used vistaprint for business cards so check that the templates havnt changed, but from my own experience. If you are using the vistaprint ICB templates you dont need to get them approved as already done. their is a space in the details to put your ICB no and this will come under the crest. As regards the logo, if you havfnt got one (like I hadnt when I started), make sure that you delete the logo box. Otherwise Vistaprint will print the box that lets you to press on it, and you will end up with useless business cards (well they are a talking point and to be fair to Vistaprint they did reprint them for me free of charge). I hope that helps. you cant use the crest as your logo as that would be against ICB rules.

Very best of luck in your new venture.

very best wishes

Hi Lainy,

Thanks for your reply. I rang ICB and they don't actually promote Vistaprint anymore so there aren't any ICB templates anymore which was why I was getting confused!

Thank you anyway,

Best wishes,

Tina

Hi Tina

If ICB dont actually use vistaprint templates anymore, then before you deside why not check with your local printers how much they would charge, they don't always work out that much dearer, are usually very good at helping with the design, and because they are local it helps to promote your services in your area. The Icb dont normally take very long to approve your design. Have you thought about a logo?

Best of luck

Hi Lainy,

Thanks for your good advice. I've found a local printers who will do them for me, but I am struggling to come up with a logo, I'll have to give it some more thought, I'm not finding thinking of a logo easy!

Thank you again for all your help.

Best wishes,

Tina

Hi Tina

Thanks great. Yes picking a logo is hard. Have you had a look on the bkpr.co.uk website? Kris designed mine as well as my website. i knew I wanted a golden butterfly as that was me but he crested it using the initials of my name. www.elainesadminandbookkeeping.co.uk. Otherwise did your printers have any ideas? think carefully before you deside and im sure you will chose a good one.

Best of luck

"The Icb dont normally take very long to approve your design."

I didn't know the ICB needed to approve. Are there some rules about this somewhere?

Hi Peter, on the ICB website under the resources section there is a bit in there where you can access their logos and it gives some information about stationary and the information you need to show on your stationary (I can't remember the actual section heading). When they used to recommend Vistaprint you didn't have to get the stationary approved as long as you used the ICB templates that were set up on there, but if you used a different printers you were supposed to send the proofs to the ICB for approval. It does still state this in that section but when I sent them my website design to approve I didn't hear anything for two weeks so I called them and was told over the phone that it was okay. I can understand them wanting to check that the crest is being used correctly but it is a bit of an inconvenience when they don't get back to you. I am assuming I was maybe just a one off, but I will see what happens next time I need to get an order approved.

Hi,

I noticed all the rules and regulations we had to follow for the designs, but did not see the paragraph at the bottom stating we had to send our designs off for approval. If that had been in amore prominent position, like after rules and regulations and not after spelling and pronounciation, I might have noticed it.

I have now sent the work I have had done off for approval, and keeping fingers crossed the ICB will not take too long in coming back to me.

Regards,and thanks for the warning.
