Sage Tax Code for an invoice with a VAT exemption due to customer having a CAT exemption due to disability

Dear Colleagues,

I am about to enter an invoice in Sage which has no VAT due to the customer holding a CAT exemption as he has a disability. Could anyone advise me which tax code to use in this instance? My client is using standard VAT accounting.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Vanessa

Hello Vanessa,

Sorry I don't have the answer for you, but would you mind telling me what a
CAT exemption is? I've never heard of one of those.

Thanks

Hi Torben,

Thanks anyway. The CAT exemption allows disabled persons to apply for zero-rated products or services due to having a disability.

I want to know how to enter this in Sage, so as not to affect the turnover figures.

Hope someone else can advise me on this? Obviously the customer payment will not match the customer's invoice which contains a VAT figure!

Here's hoping.

Regards all,

Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

The customer invoice should have been raised with Zero Vat.

The certificate gets kept with the Vat Returns submitted as proof in case you get a Vat Inspection.

Thanks Marilyn,

Much appreciated as ever,
