I have a client who is VAT registered, who uses ebay/paypal to purchases items for his business. 

The issue is that although the companies he is buying from appear to be VAT registered, the invoices on ebay/paypal do not mention VAT. Am i unable to claim VAT back for him if there is no invoice that specifies it? Is this the same for all ebay purchases? Does he need to specifically ask for a vat invoice?

any help much appreciated!

 Hi Annie

I have a similar client. What I do is ask him to get an invoice from the supplier once the transaction is complete. If he gets the VAT invoice then VAT is claimable if he does not then not.
