You can submit your application online in just a few minutes. You'll need to provide photo ID and demonstrate that you have relevant work experience and/or relevant qualifications completed during the last five years by providing details of referees and/or uploading results certificates. You can do this during your online application or at a later date1. You may be asked to complete our Membership Entrance Paper (MEP), an online skills test, so that we can ensure you're offered the highest possible level of ICB membership.
Relevant qualifications are listed in our qualification conversion chart and you should view the Exemption Pathway to see if you can apply.
1If your application for membership by exemption is inactive for more than six months it will be closed and you will be required to pay the full application fee to reapply.
Applying for Membership by Exemption can take up to three months from the point your application is received. Please let us know if you are already running a business and need supervision under the Money Laundering Regulations during this time.
The one-off membership by exemption application fee of £200 is halved for Accountex attendees using the voucher code ACTXMEM before 31 May 2019. Once exemptions are granted and you are offered membership, you will be asked to pay your first year's annual membership fee. If you are offering bookkeeping services to clients, whether as an incorporated entity or not, you will be required to hold an ICB Practice Licence which includes AML Supervision (annual fee of £150 plus one-off application fee of £50). Please let us know immediately if you are practising and we will send you the Practice Licence application form by email or post according to your preference.
