The first-ever virtual Bookkeepers Summit was nothing short of a rip-roaring success!
Over 1,000 delegates joined in the two days of TED-style talks, live panel discussions, speed networking, social gatherings, competitions, exhibitions, and the promise of mind-blowing life-affirming fun.
With a social feed, 1-2-1 text messaging and video meetings, and their own lounge and breakout rooms, delegates were provided with a totally immersive experience.
Day one saw Rebecca Benneyworth hone in on tax for small businesses and VAT, and Xero’s Gary Turner talked about the indispensability of bookkeepers.
Among the top line-up of speakers on day two were Owen Rowland, head of the economic crime unit at the Home Office, Irene Loh, HMRC Director of Covid Response, and HMRC’s External Stakeholder Lead Verna Gellvear.
The host of the Future Accounting Podcast, Danetha Doe, was on hand to provide some sage advice too and Blake Oliver, co-host of the Cloud Accounting podcast appeared on one of the popular live panel sessions.
ICB Companion and star of ICB TV, Jacquie Mount, was also there over both days providing a series of technical updates.
Nicky Bennett summed up how many delegates felt: “It’s been so great to feel connected this week. I’m going to miss it.”
Mandy Bungey MICB agreed: “I think that this virtual set-up worked extremely well in these challenging times. It was great to see people’s faces, hear interesting and thought-provoking presentations, and ‘meet up’ with other like-minded ICB members. For Calum Duncan MICB PM.Dip the virtual summit was ‘fab’ and Laura Cilliers MICB said it was simply “inspiring”. Jennifer Nicol MICB PM.Dip explained: “I am so impressed with ICB right now. What a couple of days.”
