The programme for ICB’s virtual Bookkeepers Summit includes HMRC, technology, tax and a panel of practising bookkeepers
The agenda for the virtual Bookkeepers Summit has been announced, with two days of sessions covering technology, tax, Making Tax Digital, practice development and the changing role of the bookkeeper.
The virtual event takes place on 23 and 24 November, following the in-person Summit at London’s QEII Centre on 16 November.
ICB CEO Ami Copeland will open the virtual programme, which includes contributions from HMRC, software providers, industry experts and practising bookkeepers.
One of the first sessions will see ICB’s Tech Advisory Board reveal the results of the new Bookkeeper Technology Index, which brings together the views of technology specialists with feedback from ICB members about the software they use in their practices.
Craig Ogilvie, MTD Director at HMRC, will join Ami Copeland to discuss the progress of Making Tax Digital and what the next stage means for businesses and their advisers. The programme also includes a session with ICB member John Gillett MICB PM.Dip, who will discuss his work as a production accountant, including his credits on Adolescence, Conclave and This Is England.
Other sessions across the two days will look at artificial intelligence, AML, economic abuse, debt, practice management and software. Natasha Everard will examine the use of AI as a virtual member of the team, while Rebecca Benneyworth MBE will provide a tax update.
The second day will close with a Superstars Panel, bringing together practising bookkeepers to answer questions about the realities of running a bookkeeping or payroll practice.
“Of course, all the fun happens in London, but we know that not everyone can make it. If you cannot be there in person, this is the place to be. You can still hear from the speakers, take part in the conversations and be part of the Summit with other bookkeepers, wherever you are.”
The virtual Summit will run from 9.45am to 3pm on both days.
The full agenda is now available, with the virtual event providing an alternative for bookkeepers who are unable to attend the London Summit. Tickets cost £99 + VAT.
