Chancellor Rishi Sunak has raised the prospect that the Autumn budget could be delayed after he asked the Office for Budget Responsibility “to prepare an economic and fiscal forecast to be published in mid-to-late November.”

The request came in the form of a written statement in the House of Commons, and some commentators are now saying Mr Sunak feels he cannot commit to tax changes and spending plans while there is so much economic uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
