18-22 November 2019 saw bookkeepers across the globe celebrating their achievements

Global Bookkeeping Week 2019 kicked off on Monday 18th November and saw an increase in membership applications, following the voucher code we provided at Xerocon earlier in the month. More people than ever are becoming ICB members and this ICB article explains just how in-demand qualified bookkeepers are.

The week was also a great way to remind everyone about the birth of bookkeeping. Cistercian monk Luca Pacioli first wrote down the principles of double-entry bookkeeping 525 years ago, lived with Leonardo Da Vinci and is nicknamed the Father of Accounting.  His book for small business owners changed the course of history and the video below shows how far we have come as a profession.

Wednesday 20th November was the day of the global coffee meet-ups and ICB members met up across the country. Members who could not attend meet-ups took to social media to share their #RaiseACup photos - check out their snaps below.

ICB Lincolnshire Branch

The Bookkeeping Hub Ltd (Nicola Payne MICB PM.Dip) produced this great Global Bookkeeping Week video.

The week ended with everyone looking forward to the annual Bookkeepers Summit and Luca Awards (named after Luca Pacioli himself), which took place on the following Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November.  The Oscars of the bookkeeping world, the Luca Awards are recognition of the outstanding achievements of the profession.

You can see all the winners here.
