Following the largest ever Bookkeepers Summit on Monday, ICB today hosted senior delegates from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan at a parliamentary lunch at the House of Lords. The event brought together government representatives, industry leaders, academics and financial professionals to strengthen cooperation in transparency, governance and ethical financial reporting.
The lunch was held for ICB’s Eastern European network, the Institute of Certified Financial Managers (ICFM), which represents finance professionals working across public institutions, major industries and national infrastructure.
Garry Carter, ICB Co-Founder and President, opened the event by highlighting the purpose of the gathering.
Garry Carter said:
“Today is about partnership and shared values. Transparency, integrity and good governance sit at the heart of what we do. Strong bookkeeping and ethical financial oversight help uncover wrongdoing, protect the vulnerable and support stable, thriving economies. When we work together across borders, our impact is far greater.”
Delegates also heard from the Eltay Aslanov, First Secretary to the Azerbaijan Embassy, who delivered the keynote address and reflected on the deepening collaboration between UK and Eurasian financial professionals.
Closing the event, ICB CEO Ami Copeland spoke about the strength of the international community and the opportunities ahead.
Ami Copeland said:
“It has been wonderful to bring our colleagues together here in the House of Lords. The conversations today reflect a real shared commitment to raising standards and supporting the organisations and communities we serve. Our profession is changing quickly, but the values we stand for remain constant. As new technologies reshape the way we work, the judgement, integrity and insight of well trained bookkeepers will matter more than ever. ICB is here to support our members and partners as they navigate that future with confidence.”
ICB is the world’s largest bookkeeping institute, with students and members in 142 countries. Through its regional network, including ICFM in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, the organisation works to champion ethical practice, strengthen financial oversight and support the development of skilled professionals across the globe.
