Calling Tech-Savvy Bookkeepers: Help HMRC understand how innovative software products are changing your work
HMRC are exploring how data integration and AI are being used in bookkeeping software as it relates to tax. They’re keen to learn from your experience.
The products they’ve identified as being of interest are:
- Dext
- Briefcase
- Jenesys Jack
- Ember
- ANNA Money
- Artifact AI
- Tide
- Crunch
- Pandle
- Countingup
If you use an innovative product that isn’t listed, they’d still be keen to hear from you. The only requirements are that the product must:
- be available in the UK, and
- incorporate data integration, AI categorisation, or both.
HMRC are looking for bookkeepers who are open to sharing their insights from using the software on a day-to-day basis. Their aim isn’t to evaluate or influence the tools themselves, but to better understand how they’re used in practice – what’s helpful, what’s frustrating, and what could be improved.
Why take part?
Your participation will:
- Help HMRC build a clearer picture of how new products are impacting bookkeeping in the real world
- Help HMRC understand the challenges faced specifically by bookkeepers
- Ensure that future discussions about AI and bookkeeping are grounded in practical insight
What’s involved?
- A short visit from HMRC representatives – specifically for insight gathering – at a time convenient for you
- A real time observation session where you’ll show HMRC how the software works
- A brief chat so HMRC can hear your thoughts and reflections
If you’re interested, HMRC will first send you a short questionnaire to learn more about you and the tools you use.
Participation is entirely voluntary and confidential. You can change your mind at any time. HMRC will only use the information you provide on the day to better understand how the software is used. Neither you nor your clients will be identified in any outputs HMRC create as part of their project. Helping with this session will not affect any contact you may have with HMRC, now or in the future.
