Talk Money Week is an annual campaign by the Money and Pensions Service (MPAS) that aims to encourage conversations about personal finances which includes budgeting, saving and planning. In 2025, this runs from 03 to 07 November.

During this week, HMRC are encouraging individuals to download their free app and start the conversation about money and tax.  This can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play and ICB are keen to point out its functionality.  HMRC says it is a ‘quick and easy way to get information about your tax, National Insurance and benefits’ and will allow the following checks:

  • The tax code;
  • National Insurance number;
  • Income and benefits;
  • Employment and income history (from the previous 5 years);
  • The Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) for Self-Assessment;
  • Access to Self-Assessment tax and how much is owed;
  • Child Benefit;
  • The State Pension forecast; and
  • Highlight gaps in National Insurance Contributions history which may affect State Pension or benefit entitlement

So, in 2025’s Talk Money Week, it is worthwhile highlighting the following links:

ICB recognises that this is a useful app, hence the reason that we are passing on HMRC’s message in Talk Money Week.
