The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are encouraging people to use their online tools to check the age at which they can receive their State Pension, the amount and the age they qualify for a Bus Pass.

As ICB has pointed out, the State Pension age (Spa) is in the process of increasing to 67.  The SPa is the earliest age that an individual you can start receiving the new State Pension (nSP).  By entering only a date of birth, the tool will allow you to check: 

  • The dates you will reach the SPa;
  • The date you might qualify for Pension Credit (if you’re over SPa and on a low income.); and
  • The date when you will get your Bus Pass (this is aligned to the SPa in England but 60 in the devolved nations)
