Tips and traps for businesses taking leases
The ICB Staffordshire Branch would like to wish you all a very happy New Year and welcomes all ICB Students and Members to join them for an evening with Mark Shelton of Commercial Property Management Law Trainer.
Mark will be looking at how many businesses sign up to leases without any professional advice, while the landlord has letting agents and solicitors on his side. It’s not surprising that so many tenants end up with leases that don’t do them any favours, and may get some nasty surprises down the line. Signing a lease without understanding what you’re getting into can be a very expensive mistake. In this talk Mark Shelton, experienced commercial solicitor and author of the Lease Guide website (www.theleaseguide.co.uk) discusses some common pitfalls and ways in which businesses can protect themselves even if they choose not to retain professional advisers.
