Membership by Exemption applications are free during Global Bookkeeping Week
If you're good at what you do you could become a member of ICB by exemption without taking ICB examinations. You can apply for FREE during Global Bookkeeping Week between 19 and 23 November 2018, saving you £200 on the normal application fee.

You can submit your application online in just a few minutes. You'll need to provide photo ID and demonstrate that you have relevant work experience and/or relevant qualifications from the last five years by providing details of referees and/or uploading results certificates. You can do this during your online application or at a later date1. You may be asked to complete our online Membership Entrance Paper (MEP) so that we can ensure you're offered the highest possible level of ICB membership.
Relevant qualifications are listed in our qualification conversion table and you should view the Exemption Pathway to see if you can apply. Kindly note AAT Bookkeeping qualifications are not considered relevant for ICB membership purposes.

How long does the application take?
Applying for Membership by Exemption can take up to three months from the point your application is received. Please let us know if you are already running a business and need supervision under the Money Laundering Regulations during this time.
What does it cost?
The one-off application fee of £200 is waived for XeroCon attendees using the voucher code XEROCONVIP during Global Bookkeeping Week 2018. Once exemptions are granted and you are offered membership, you will be asked to pay your first year's annual membership fee. If you are running your own bookkeeping business, whether as an incorporated entity or not, you will be required to hold an ICB Practice Licence which can include AML Supervision at no extra cost.

Ongoing Membership Commitment
As an ICB member you are required to maintain and develop your expertise and professional skills as part of a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD). You will be required to keep a record of your CPD activities each year.
You will also need to comply with the ICB Professional Conduct Regulations and hold an ICB Practice Licence if you are self-employed or running your own practice.

1If your application is inactive for more than six months it will be closed and you will be required to pay the application fee to reapply.
