The fast-track support programme to help you start, develop & grow your practice
ICB has developed the PracticeBuilder programme to support members in starting, developing and growing their own bookkeeping practice. The programme is designed for both existing Practice Licence holders, and those who are undertaking studies with the intention of running their own business in the future.
The published failure rates for a new business start-up are high, with some reports quoting three out of four businesses will cease trading after one year. Although ICB practice renewal statistics demonstrate a far higher success rate for bookkeepers than the national average, each year a number of members find themselves seeking extra support and considering whether or not to invest heavily in a franchise, or the services of a consultancy.
Now with the ICB PracticeBuilder programme, targeted support and guidance is available at a highly subsidised price, to help members develop their knowledge, skills and confidence at the vital early stages of their business.
Not only will the PracticeBuilder programme help you survive the traditionally difficult start-up period, it will also equip you to grow your business and trade longer and stronger from that good foundation.
Our objective is to support members in establishing and developing a successful practice, according to their own definition of success.

The programme is delivered by Mike Foster, ICB Head of Member Development, who has a strong background in the business start-up market and business growth. He is an accredited business mentor and Growth Voucher adviser. Mike has previously started, grown, franchised and sold his own bookkeeping practice and will share his experience, knowledge and skills. Some of you will already know Mike as he has spoken at three Bookkeepers Summits on the subject of marketing and growing a bookkeeping practice.
The ICB PracticeBuilder programme covers four key stages for your business; Planning, Starting, Developing and Growing the business.
The programme is delivered in a modular format, giving you the opportunity to join the programme at the stage that suits you. The modules are:
